Gwinnett County Public Library Launches WiFi Hotspot Lending Program

published on April 28, 2017 by Jamie Parker

The Gwinnett County Public Library is a valuable community resource, especially with much of our region being made up of rural communities. Through the library, we have direct access to a range of important resources; not just books. Having reliable internet connection is something which many may take for granted, yet, up to 30% of households in the County do not have this now commonplace service. As a leader in community support, the Gwinnett County Public Library has launched a new WiFi Hotspot Lending Program.

In today’s world, access to the internet is more of a necessity than a luxury. With the aim to help more county residents have access to the internet, and thus help students with school work, and others stay informed and connected, the WiFi Hotspot Lending Program consist of a kit which can be checked out for up to three weeks at a time. While the kits can’t be renewed, a new one can be checked again as needed. Each kit comes with its own network password to enable the user to connect to the mobile hotspot.

The kits, which are serviced in partnership with T-Mobile, provide a 4G, LTE Wireless Hotspot, USB cable and wall charger. With a wireless Hotspot, users can connect into cellular networks to provide internet access to their digital devices. All that is needed to check out the WiFi Hotspot Kit is a Full Access or Branch Out library card from Gwinnett County Public Library.
